Our Community Outreach

We believe in giving back to the communities that serve us, which is why many EnergyUnited employees share their time, skills, money and resources to help out in whatever ways possible. Take a look at some of the ways EU employees are getting involved:

AMBER ALERT

EnergyUnited is a member of North Carolina’s Amber Alert network, a combined public and private effort that uses community resources to locate children or the elderly, or to alert of any foul play that could put communities at risk.

When an Amber Alert is broadcast by law enforcement agencies in our service area, the message is sent to EnergyUnited’s dispatch center, which notifies linemen, technicians and other field workers.

Armed with this information, our employees become eyes and ears for law enforcement agencies, reporting anything unusual that they see.

CRIME WATCH

Since many EnergyUnited employees work in neighborhoods during the middle of the day when most people are away from their homes, they are an ideal source of eyes and ears for local crime-watch efforts.

If an employee spots an emergency or any suspicious activity, they immediately report it to the authorities. In some cases, they can even render emergency aid until help arrives.

SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS

Each year, our management team meets with local communities to present topics of interest to civic clubs, government groups, schools, businesses and other groups. Typical topics for discussion include:

  • Economic development
  • Electrical safety
  • Energy conservation
  • History of rural electrification
  • Green power
  • And more
