Celebrating Our Bright Ideas Winners

The future looks bright for North Carolina students. See how our Tar Heel teachers are empowering the future.

The future looks bright: and now, thanks to North Carolina’s great teachers and EnergyUnited’s donations of over $40,000, it just got a little brighter. This year, EnergyUnited has recognized 37 teachers across our great state with a donation to fund engaging classroom projects in topics like 3-D technology, robotics, virtual reality, STEM, the environment, and more.

Bright Ideas grant applications are collected each year from April through mid-September, with winning proposals selected by a panel of judges. Each grant application outlines the project, a budget, and the value to the classroom. Every November, EnergyUnited recognizes these teachers with a luncheon, check award ceremony, and the gift of connection to teachers across the state.

EnergyUnited is one of the 26 member-owned cooperatives in the state to offer Bright Ideas grants to our local educators. This autumn alone, North Carolina’s electric cooperatives awarded close to $600,000 statewide in Bright Ideas Education grants. Since its inception in 1994, the NC co-ops have collectively awarded more than $11.5 million to Tar Heel teachers. Now that’s powerful.

Just one more way EnergyUnited is your local connection to power and to empowering the future. Find out more about the Bright Ideas Program here.
