EU Foundation Grants $6,500 to G4G Ministries

Learn more about the Statesville organization that's passionate about feeding the less fortunate.

The EnergyUnited Foundation has awarded a grant for $6,507 to G4G (Grill for God) Ministries, a faith-based, non-profit organization that helps combat food insecurity with their mobile grilling unit and spiritual ministry.

G4G was founded in 2008 after a group of employees from Holland Transfer Company in Statesville volunteered to cook and serve food at a local shelter. During the event, one resident expressed his surprise and gratitude that the employees had decided to spend their time at the shelter, noting that he didn’t think anyone cared about the people there. And just like that, G4G ministries was formed with the sole purpose to feed the less fortunate.

It’s civic involvement like this that EnergyUnited strives to cultivate. Commitment to community is deeply embedded in EnergyUnited’s roots as a not-for-profit electric cooperative. And the work of The EnergyUnited Foundation serves as a perfect illustration of this key cooperative promise. The member-funded non-profit organization is supported by our Operation Round-Up program.

Every month, nearly 70,000 EU members choose to participate in the program by ‘rounding up’ their electric bills to the nearest dollar. Each of these small contributions are pooled together in a single fund managed by the EnergyUnited Foundation to support needy individuals, families, and non-profit organizations like G4G Ministries that complete an application explaining the reason and purpose for their requested grant.

“We are so thankful to receive this grant from The EnergyUnited Foundation,” said Elisa Connolly, executive director for G4G Ministries. “We rely heavily on community support in order to serve hot meals to needy families who are battling food insecurity, and many serious spiritual challenges.”

“G4G Ministries is meeting a critical need that sometimes goes unnoticed in other communities,” said Debra Citta, EnergyUnited Foundation Administrator. “Their commitment to serving the underprivileged is a great reflection of the purpose of this foundation.”

We are proud to support and continue to stay committed to the community that created us. For more information about G4G Ministries, please visit https://www.g4gministries.com/.
