How the Advanced Metering System Works

The advanced metering system uses digital meters and two-way communications to collect and send information between your meter and EnergyUnited:

  • Your meter records information about your electricity usage.
  • EnergyUnited requests information from your meter through the power lines.
  • Your meter receives the request and sends usage, voltage and outage data through the power lines back to EnergyUnited.
  • Our office receives your energy usage information and generates a monthly statement.

How AMI works

Although the advanced metering system will not automatically notify EnergyUnited of a power outage at your location, it will help us determine wide-spread service interruptions and aid in the restoration process. EnergyUnited encourages our members to report any service interruptions by calling our automated system at 1-800-EUNITED (1-800-386-4833).
