As interest in plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) continues to rise, EnergyUnited has implemented several new programs to help support the use of PEVs as a viable transportation solution for its members. Powered by electricity, plug-in vehicles can help reduce petroleum consumption and the emission of greenhouse gases, as well as improve air quality.
EnergyUnited has recently installed two electric charging stations, one at its Statesville office and one at Childress Vineyards in Lexington, N.C. They are available for use by PEV owners free-of-charge.
In addition, EnergyUnited is now offering a Residential Plug-In Vehicles Charging Station Rebate program that provides residential members an incentive to offset their initial charging station installation cost. EnergyUnited will provide a rebate of $500 (limit one per household) for a Level 2 charging station. The rebate program will be initially limited to the first 100 applicants that meet the following program requirements:
EnergyUnited has shown support for this advancing technology and owns several hybrid vehicles including a Toyota Prius, a Honda Civic, a propane fueled Chevy Impala and a propane-operated lawnmower.
