ENERGYUNITED ANNOUNCES 2026 BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATION RESULTS

STATESVILLE, N.C. – EnergyUnited Electric Membership Corporation has concluded the nomination process for its 2026 Board of Directors election.

In accordance with EnergyUnited’s bylaws, when the number of nominees does not exceed the number of Directors to be elected from a particular Director District, balloting may be dispensed with in respect to that Director District and the President shall declare such nominees duly elected.

In District 1, Ed Cartner was declared duly elected as the sole nominee in the district. Cartner has served on the EnergyUnited Board of Directors since the cooperative’s formation in 1998 and previously served on the Crescent EMC Board beginning in 1987. A retired business and sales professional, Cartner is a longtime community leader and active member of the V-Point Ruritan Club.

Zolee Riggs was the sole nominee for District 2 and was duly elected to serve a three-year term. Riggs has served on the EnergyUnited Board of Directors since 2022 and brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing, product management and business strategy. She resides in Kernersville with her family and has been an EnergyUnited member since 2017.

As the sole nominee for District 3, Cheryl Wright was also duly elected to serve a three-year term. Wright, who joined the board in 2021 and currently serves as vice president, is a business owner with nearly 30 years of experience in sales management and training. Before joining the board, she served on EnergyUnited’s Member Advisory Committee and continues to be actively involved in her community.

EnergyUnited’s Board of Directors is responsible for establishing cooperative policies, setting strategic direction and representing the interests of the cooperative’s members. Directors are elected by the membership and serve as stewards of the cooperative’s mission.
