EnergyUnited Announces Nationwide Search for Vice President of Energy Services and Corporate Communications

STATESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA – EnergyUnited Electric Membership Corporation, a leading North Carolina electric cooperative serving 140,000 members across 19 counties, announces the launch of a nationwide search for a Vice President of Energy Services and Corporate Communications. This executive will lead the cooperative’s transformation to a digital-first member experience, serve as its primary public spokesperson, and join a high-performing Executive Leadership Team with meaningful succession potential. The EnergyUnited Board of Directors has retained CarterBaldwin Executive Search to partner in this search.

The new VP will report to the Chief Operating Officer and lead three functional areas: a Member Support team of approximately 40 employees managing more than 20,000 monthly member interactions, a Corporate Communications team supported by two external agencies, and an Economic Development function serving EnergyUnited’s 19-county service territory in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont region.

“EnergyUnited is at an inflection point,” said President and CEO Thomas Golden. “We are committed to meeting our members where they are — digitally, in their communities, and at every touchpoint they have with this cooperative. The VP of Energy Services and Corporate Communications will be a cornerstone of that effort, and we are excited to find the right leader to help carry this organization forward.”

EnergyUnited is one of North Carolina’s most dynamic electric cooperatives, known across the industry for combining operational excellence with genuine member-first values. Headquartered in Statesville minutes from the Charlotte metro, the cooperative serves one of the more industrially robust service territories in the country and has undergone significant organizational growth under Golden, adding roughly 70 positions over the last five years and steadily evolving its service delivery model. The cooperative’s foundation has returned more than $10 million to local communities since its founding.

Guided by the Seven Cooperative Principles, EnergyUnited’s culture is defined by transparency, accountability, and a genuine commitment to the communities it serves — an environment where leadership addresses challenges openly and moves with both speed and consensus.
