The EnergyUnited Foundation is always looking for ways to do better — for our community and our planet. That’s why the grant application process for the EnergyUnited Foundation is now 100% online.
What hasn’t changed is our mission to serve our community — and the members and employees who make upholding that commitment possible.
Since 1996, the EnergyUnited Foundation has granted over $8 million to nearly 5,000 individuals, households and nonprofit organizations in need of financial assistance — and it’s all thanks to the generosity of over 90,000 members who round up their monthly bills as part of our Operation Round-Up program.
In 2022 alone, we received 191 applications and were proud to award $382,000 to more than 133 households and nonprofits throughout our community. And in 2021, we received 163 applications and awarded over $300,000. We’re proud to lend a helping hand to our neighbors while partnering with organizations in our community.
So, don’t wait to get the help you, your household and your community deserve — scroll on to find the online grant application that suits you best.
EnergyUnited Foundation Grant Recipient – April Jenkins
Operation Round-Up is a powerful way for EnergyUnited members to help others in their community by rounding up their monthly bills. The EnergyUnited Foundation is funded entirely by the generosity of members who give through our Round-Up program. Donations can be as little as a penny or as much as 99 cents, which may not seem like much, but these small amounts add up quickly, making for a greater impact on the lives of other community members in need.
To learn more about the EnergyUnited Foundation or to participate in Operation Round-Up, please call us at 1-800-522-3793 or sign up on My EnergyHub.
We understand that when it comes to worrying about housing, utilities and other necessities, the last thing you need on your plate is a difficult grant application process.

Why are you not allowing members to submit a hard copy application any longer?
We are going paperless! This will save you on printing costs and postage to mail the application. It will also speed up the time that your application is received and eliminate the issue of lost mail. EnergyUnited is committed to being a sustainable organization. We believe moving to an e-application is in the best interest of our Foundation applicants and our cooperative.
How can I submit/attach documents with my digital application?
There will be an option to attach documents within the application itself.
What if I don’t have a device to scan the items I need to attach to the application? How can I create a digital copy of my attachments?
When will I be notified if my request has been approved?
The EnergyUnited Foundation Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month. You will be notified via email within 3 days of this meeting with a decision to either support (full or partial funding) or deny your request.
If my application is not approved, when can I apply again?
You are eligible to apply for a grant once every six months.
Can I apply for a Heating Assistance/Energy Assistance grant and request funds through a regular grant in the same year?
Yes, members can apply for both grants in the same year as long as you meet the eligibility requirements.
What is the maximum dollar amount that I can apply for?
Individual members can apply for up to $5,000/year per individual (household of 1) or up to $10,000/year per household.
What is the maximum dollar amount a nonprofit can apply for?
The maximum dollar amount that will be funded to a non-profit organization is $10,000 per year. Nonprofits can apply every two years.
