ENERGYUNITED DONATES $10,000 TO ST. FRANCIS SPRINGS CENTER

STATESVILLE, N.C. – The EnergyUnited Foundation recently donated $10,000 to St. Francis Springs Center in support of their respite program for frontline medical workers.

The funding will help the five-star retreat center defray operational costs, such as food, utilities and staffing to serve medical workers. Their plan is to serve 100 medical workers from the Piedmont Triad area by working closely with Wake Forest Baptist Health, UNC and Moses Cone hospitals.

“We are grateful to receive this donation from the EnergyUnited Foundation, which will enable us to provide rooms for frontline medical workers to stay for up to two nights through our respite program,” said Steve Swayne, executive director of St. Francis Springs Center.

“The EnergyUnited Foundation exists to help meet the needs of the people who live and work in our communities,” said EnergyUnited Foundation Administrator Debra Citta. “The past 15 months have been very challenging in many ways and the physical and mental health of the medical workers who helped pull us through the pandemic should not be overlooked. We are thankful for the leadership and empathy that St. Francis Springs Center has demonstrated through their respite program and are proud to show our support with this donation.”

The EnergyUnited Foundation is a voluntary, member-funded nonprofit organization supported by EnergyUnited’s Operation Round-Up program. Over 80,000 EnergyUnited members choose to participate in the program by ‘rounding up’ their electric bills each month. The maximum monthly contribution for an individual member with one account is 99 cents. Each of these small contributions are pooled together in a single fund managed by the EnergyUnited Foundation to support needy individuals, families, and essential nonprofit organizations that complete an application explaining the reason and purpose for their requested grant.
